Former Clifton Forge Resident, Master Electrician, Dies At Age 49

Christopher Lee (Chris) Williamson, 49, is at peace with the Lord.

Chris was a Master electrician, graduating from Alleghany High School and Jackson River Technical Center in Electronics.

In his current job, he worked at Amazon Web Services Data Center Dulles, a high security iCloud company. His position was in Data Center Engineering as an Operations Engineer responsible for operations, supervising, training, and writing policy and procedures.

He began his career performing upgrades at Dulles Airport & then Installation of Dulles Toll Roads as a master electrician. He also worked in Charlotte, NC on total smart homes, where he invented programs and creations that were new to the industry.

He worked as a Master Electrician at the University of Virginia Medical Center, upgrading and repairing life-critical electrical systems. He also owned his own business "Charlottesville Electrical Solutions".

Work was Chris' sanctuary where he could focus his mind on things that interested him as he had a "Genius IQ". He was very proud of his career endeavors and was extremely successful. Chris relocated to several states from DC, Syracuse New York, to Sarasota Florida, and back to Va. He was always searching and finding challenging positions where he received recognition of his skills and contributions.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, Donald H. Williamson Jr.; brother-in-law, Jim Mangano and maternal grandparents, Charles and Susie Banker. Chris was an amazing son to Beverly (Banker) and Joe Pascarella of Clifton Forge, Va who survive him. He was a proud brother to Lisa Mangano (and Uncle to Kylan and Talan Mangano) and brother to Dustin and Ty Williamson.

Chris was loved by all. His greatest love was for his children: Kaleb, Ashton, Brenna and India Williamson. Chris always said that his children were his greatest accomplishment, as well as his three grandchildren, Elias, Pharyn Rose and "Ellie" Williamson. Chris was a kind, caring, loving father and grandfather. Chris is also survived by special cousins, aunts and uncles and his paternal great-grandmother, Gay Charles Keith and a host of many special friends.

Chris would always lend a helping hand to anyone who needed him. However in his spare time, he most enjoyed spending time with family or working on cars for his children. His favorite car was his Pontiac Grand Prix 40th Anniversary Edition. He enjoyed watching sports such as his favorites: University of Virginia, and the Buffalo Bills.

"Chris" made such a positive impact on many lives. He was a bright, beautiful, and loving soul who will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. Chris will have a celebration of life at a favorite spot on the Cowpasture River at 212 Glen Haven Drive, Clifton Forge, VA on June 23, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.

Former Covington Resident Dies At Age 93 In Mississippi

Ella M. Lemon, age 93, of Brandon, Mississippi passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at St. Catherine's Village in Madison, Mississippi.

A native of Covington, Virginia she was the second child of Jim and Evelyn Otto.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Lemon in 2006 and a sister, Rose M. Otto in 2009.

Mrs. Lemon is survived by three children, Joe Lemon (Julia) of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Le Lemon of Darnestown, Maryland and Patrick Lemon (Mary Jane) of Brandon, Mississippi. Mrs. Lemon had seven grandchildren, Abigail (Adam), Johanna, Mary Grace, Ryann, Elaine (Thomas), Jay and Murphy, as well as two great grandchildren, Julia Rose and Constantine. Mrs. Lemon had two surviving sisters, Adelaide Paslay of Saltillo, Mississippi and Eleaner Leftwich of Chesapeake, Virginia.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Emory United Methodist Church in Natural Well, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may take the form of contributions to Boys Home of Virginia, 414 Boys Home Road, Covington, VA 24426.

Obituary for Lawrence Oliver LacyLawrence Oliver Lacy
Clifton Forge Resident Dies At Age 82

Lawrence Oliver Lacy, of Clifton Forge, Virginia, was welcomed into the arms of his Savior in his heavenly home on June 3rd, 2024 at the age of 82.

His passing was comforted by the presence of his loving family who surrounded him with expressions of love and singing on his last day.

Larry was born in Savannah, Georgia on February 18th, 1942 to Frank and Ruth Lacy. After graduating from Savannah High School, Larry earned an Industrial Engineering Degree at Georgia Tech.

On September 7, 1963, Larry married his high school sweetheart, Kae Dishinger. God blessed the couple with a son, Frank, a daughter, Tamera, and daughter, Lori as they moved from Atlanta to Panama City, Florida, to Fort Valley, Georgia,and to Clifton Forge, Virginia, where they lived together happily for more than 55 years.

Larry worked in the industrial paper making and automotive industries before joining Hercules, Inc. in Covington, Virginia, where he worked for more than 25 years. Following his engineering career, he began a small business installing and refinishing hard wood flooring that he continued for 15 years.

During his professional career, Larry successfully obtained patents in the automotive and power tool industries. He was a member of the Association for Quality and Productivity for which he published several technical papers and made numerous presentations on workplace teamwork and quality improvement, including a teamwork survey conducted throughout the U.S. and Canada.

He served as the President of the Covington chapter of the Salvation Army, and for many years enjoyed square dancing with his wife and served as the President of the club.

Kae and Larry attended and faithfully served Living Stone Ministries in Clifton Forge. In retirement, Larry designed and constructed his dream home on the banks of the Cowpasture River, which will serve as his final resting place.

Larry leaves behind a loving community of family and friends to mourn his passing, who will also celebrate his freedom from illness and pain. Among these are his son, Frank (and wife, Melina) of Texas, with his children, Clark and Savannah. His daughter, Tammy (and husband, Glen) of Florid, and his daughter ,Lori (and husband, Vic) of Virginia, with their sons, Victor and Luke.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a sister-in-law, and is survived by sister, Rebecca, and brother, Ralph, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial celebrating his life will be held on July 5th at Living Stones Ministries.

The Lord used Larry's cancer to lift the veil. The faint whisperings from another world have become a clarion call, and the claims of this reality have faded away. Larry has finished the race.

White Sulphur Springs Resident, Insurance Business Owner, Dies In Georgia At Age 81

Paul Edward (Ed) DeLong, of White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, left to join his heavenly father on May 30, 2024.

Ed was born on February 14, 1943 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to Alma and Paul DeLong.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Lloyd Harbaugh; stepson, Steven Neville and son-in-law, Blaine Cowan.

He was a 1961 graduate of White Sulphur Springs High School.

Ed enlisted in the United States Army in 1964 and completed his military service with the Army National Guard in 1985, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He was a steadfast pillar of the community he loved.

In addition to serving through his business, Ed DeLong Insurance Marketplace, Ed was in the first class of EMTs from White Sulphur Springs. He was an Engine Captain in the White Sulphur Springs Fire Department, a Squad Captain and one of the first scuba divers in the Rescue Squad. He was a decorated volunteer firefighter for many years.

He was also a member of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in White Sulphur Springs.

Ed was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was an enthusiastic gun collector and also enjoyed square dancing with his sweetheart. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with lifelong friends at Sugar Camp.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Donna, the love of his life as he was to her; daughter, Holly Boggs; stepdaughters, Stephanie Cowan and Sarah Neville; granddaughters, Caitland Boggs, Cassidi Boggs, and Bailey Neville; sister, Linda DeLong Harbaugh.

A funeral mass will be conducted on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in White Sulphur Springs with Father Jim Conyers officiating. Last Call Honors by the White Sulphur Springs Fire Department will be held after mass at the church.

The family will receive friends at the church from 12 noon until time of service.

Bob was born February 18, 1950 in Covington, a son of the late Clayton and Beulah Hooker Steele.

Survivors include his sisters, Patricia Bowles of Covington and Sandra Martin of Conyers, GA; several nieces and nephews, including Billy (Kristi) Martin of Covington, GA, Sandra (John) Flock of Hattiesburg, MS, and Brandi Bowles of Covington.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Alleghany Memorial Park. The family will receive their friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home on Thursday.

Deborah Sizemore Wolfe, 68, of Covington, Virginia, died Saturday, June 1, 2024 at her residence.

Debbie was born March 20, 1956 in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late R.C. and Marrietta Bowles Sizemore.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Heather Arritt; one brother, Rodney Sizemore; and a niece, Candice Sizemore.

She was employed at LewisGale-Alleghany Hospital in the Medical Records department for over 20 years.

She was a member of Covington Bible Church and was a loving caretaker to all of her family and close friends.

Survivors include her husband, Harry "Bub" Wolfe, Jr.; four children, April (Bobby) Smith of Covington, Matt (Jennifer) Arritt of Staunton, Amanda (Scotty) Scott of Covington, and Sarah (Johnny) Quinlin of Roanoke; six grandchildren, Dakota Smith, Hunter Smith, Taylor Scott, Chloe Smith, Paisley Scott, and Bailey Quinlin; three sisters, Rebecca (Billy) Powell, Pamela (Michael) Kern, and Luscinda (Chico) Pierce; two brothers, Buddy (Susan) Sizemore and Steven (Windy Dillard) Sizemore, all of Covington; a number of nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Luna.

In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024 in the chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Williams officiating. The family will receive their friends following the service at the funeral home.

Edgar was born September 29, 1946 in Alleghany County, the son of the late Walter L. and Minnie Rose McAllister.

He served in the U. S. Army.

He was employed with Hercules in Covington, Virginia and Allied Fibers/Honeywell in Moncure, NC, where he retired after 30 years.

He was an avid hunter and enjoyed camping and fishing with his family.

In addition to his wife, Sharon of 53 years, he is survived by a daughter, Robin Turner and husband, Johnny; son, Michael McAllister and wife, Jill; brother, James McAllister and wife, Linda; sister-in-law, Cheryl McAllister; brother-in-law, Sidney Kirby; sister, Sharon Hayslett and husband, Monty and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Edgar was preceded in death by a son, Wayne E. McAllister; sisters, Carolyn Kirby, Brenda McAllister, and Lois Fleming; brother, Sterling McAllister and brother-in-law, W.B. Fleming, Jr.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Arritt Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Frank Sizemore officiating. Interment will be in Hoke Chapel Cemetery.
